tubu tree camp
Western side of Hunda Island, in the Okavango Delta's Jao Concession
Tubu Tree Camp is a traditional style tented safari camp built on raised wooden platforms. Tubu Tree Camp offers both land and water activities, depending on the fluctuating levels of the Okavango Delta's floodwater.
Diverse vegetation ranging from dry Kalahari sandveld, through to mopane forest and riverine forest on the edge of permanent waterways and floodplains, ensures incredible game viewing.
Tubu Tree's main lodge comprises a large open deck looking out over a picturesque floodplain, a lounge area with leather sofas, a small library and bar. There are various traditional carvings dotted around the camp. A small pool with umbrellas and sun loungers is accessed down a wooden walkway. Tubu Tree also offers a curio shop and boma area where a fire is lit in the evenings and early mornings. Tubu Tree Camp has 220v generator powered electricity.
The six East African Meru-style tents are stylish and have been built on raised decks. Each room has a lovely verandah with wonderful views overlooking the floodplains. The tents include wooden door entrances and roll-down canvas on the large windows in the front for viewing. The outside shower also affords great views, although each room has an inside shower for when the weather is cold. The rooms have a fan and safe for guest’s convenience.
