little vumbura camp
Northern Okavango Delta.
In the same concession as Vumbura Plains, Little Vumbura offers the same quality of safari in the Okavango Delta, but in a very different set up to its larger sister. Situated on a beautiful island in a private reserve in the north of the Delta, Little Vumbura, as its name suggests, is much smaller than Vumbura Plains; a truly authentic safari camp.
Little Vumbura is reached by a long wooden walkway which leads to a shady bar and outside dining area on one side, and a shaded lounge with plenty of comfortable blue armchairs and sofas on the other. The dining area is large, decorated with enormous drums, and has a long dining table. The star deck and camp fire is perfect for relaxing at night. There is a library with a good selection of books and two lounger style chairs to relax on. Both the lounge and the library area have great views over the water which surrounds the camp. A private plunge pool and decked area, with sun-beds and a shaded canopy also have views over the surrounding reed beds. Little Vumbura has a well stocked curio shop. Little Vumbura Camp has 220v generator powered electricity. 12w battery power (charged by the generator) is used for lighting and fans in each guest tent 24hrs a day.
Little Vumbura has six tents built under a huge canopy of ancient ebonies, marulas, knobthorns and fig trees. Attractive palms give the island a tropical feel and also attract elephants onto the island, especially towards the end of winter. Each tent is large and has private facilities, as well as an outside shower. The tented rooms are on low platforms with paths threading through the trees to the public areas.
