Chiefs Camp
Chief’s Island in the Moremi Game Reserve
Named after Chief Moremi of the Batawana tribe, Chief’s Camp is situated in the Mombo Concession of the Moremi Game Reserve and is considered to have the finest game viewing in Southern Africa. This area is also home to the Big Five.
Chief’s Camp is situated on the north-western tip of Chief’s Island, in what is termed seasonal delta. The floodwaters generally infiltrate the area in June / July and remain for a period of four to five months.
Sanctuary Chief's Camp received an extensive rebuild and redesign and welcomed its first guests on the 1st June 2016.
All the main and public areas of the camp have been extensively refurbished in a 'safari chic' style and this include a newly designed bar and library area. The extension of the dining room and the addition of a pizza deck with pizza oven provide guests with the first class safari dining experience. Also available is a new orientation room where guests can learn more about the Delta before going on game drives and as well as a gym and kids play room.
Accommodation at Sanctuary Chief's Camp is offered in brand new 12 Bush Pavilions which has increased significantly from 51 sqm to 141 sqm and this make them some of the largest in the area. Some of the features on the accommodation include; Private dining area, Nespresso machine, Outside seating area, Plunge poo, Air-conditioning and fan, spacious outdoor shower, en-suite bathroom with a large bath tub, beautiful floor to ceiling windows and folding glass doors with a stunning outlook over the surrounding waters of the Okavango Delta.
An extra to the accommodation is an all new Private Luxury Suite named after the Luxury Safari Pioneer Geffrey Kent. The suite can accommodate 4 - 6 guests in two Pavilions and the extra features and services included with the new suites are; Private Kitchen, Indoor lounge, Boma with a fire pit, Deck area, Private vehicle, Private guide, Waiter, Private, bar and a private house-keeper.
