Chiefs Camp

Chief’s Island in the Moremi Game Reserve

Named after Chief Moremi of the Batawana tribe, Chief’s Camp is situated in the Mombo Concession of the Moremi Game Reserve and is considered to have the finest game viewing in Southern Africa. This area is also home to the Big Five.

Chief’s Camp is situated on the north-western tip of Chief’s Island, in what is termed seasonal delta. The floodwaters generally infiltrate the area in June / July and remain for a period of four to five months.
Sanctuary Chief's Camp received an extensive rebuild and redesign and welcomed its first guests on the 1st June 2016.

All the main and public areas of the camp have been extensively refurbished in a 'safari chic' style and this include a newly designed bar and library area. The extension of the dining room and the addition of a pizza deck with pizza oven provide guests with the first class safari dining experience. Also available is a new orientation room where guests can learn more about the Delta before going on game drives and as well as a gym and kids play room.

Accommodation at Sanctuary Chief's Camp is offered in brand new 12 Bush Pavilions which has increased significantly from 51 sqm to 141 sqm and this make them some of the largest in the area. Game drives are conducted early morning and late afternoon. The professional guides are among the best in Botswana. Mokoro (dugout canoe) activities explore the waterways at a gentle pace.
