Royal Tree Lodge formerly known as Motsetsela Tree Lodge is a small intimate lodge, situated on a private game farm about fifteen minutes from the center of Maun. Royal Tree Lodge is an ideal stopover for guests that a need a night in Maun, either at the beginning or the end of a safari.
Royal Tree Lodge's main area is a large, semi-circular, open-plan thatched building which houses a spacious lounge and bar. Large glass windows overlook the outside deck. The interior of the building is beautifully decorated in earthy tones and African prints. There are polished wooden floors and rugs, African carvings and masks on the walls and large clay pots. The front of Royal Tree Lodge is bordered by a large teak deck, which surrounds two enormous large trees: a Leadwood and a Bird plum, from which the lodge derived its Setswana name. The dining room has a long wooden table which is made up of a few smaller tables and can be separated for individual dining. Breakfast buffets are set up in the dining room. The Lodge has a small swimming pool and deck with sun loungers. Royal Tree Lodge has continuous 220V AC power.
Royal Tree Lodge has seven spacious Meru-style tents which are stylishly decorated in creams and African prints. Each tent has a ceiling fan and en-suite bathrooms with a private outdoor shower. All the tents at Motentsela are raised on wooden decks and have a little veranda in the front. Tents have solid wooden doors and large gauze windows – with canvas flaps which can be rolled down at night. Royal Tree Lodge has two honeymoon chalets which are private and beautifully furnished. The chalets are thatched with a large circular bath and unique outside shower set looking out onto the forest.
