The banks of the eastern Selinda Spillway
Selinda Camp is built on a shady island overlooking the waters of the Selinda Spillway - a waterway that links Botswana's Okavango Delta to the Linyanti and Kwando marshes, rivers and floodplains.
A small, luxury tented safari camp, Selinda offers a peaceful and private experience far from the crowds - but with unrestrictive and exhilarating wildlife viewing.
The main area at Selinda Camp is vast in size. It has been constructed from wood and thatch - with a spectacular viewing deck and relaxing lounge area. The dining room also forms part of Selinda's main area and has unusual semicircular shaped tables which are pushed together in the evenings to form a large circular dining table. The design of the main area is that there is never a barrier to the spectacular views and wildlife that are a visual constant of the camp. Breakfast is served around the traditional campfire and guests enjoy after dinner coffee and liqueurs around the fire. Set apart from the main area is the photo/art gallery built above a temperature-controlled wine cellar and curio shop. The plunge pool is surrounded by grass and is tucked away from the main area for privacy, an ideal way to cool off on a hot afternoon. Selinda Camp has 220v generator powered electricity.
Selinda has nine spacious and luxurious tents, which have recently been fully renovated and upgraded. Reached by a sandy and well lit path, the rooms at Selinda are structured tents – with a wooden structure and canvas walls, and topped by a canvas-and-thatch roof. All the tents have a private veranda from where guests have a picturesque view onto the floodplain. The tents at Selinda have sliding doors at the front. The beds have a large walk in mosquito net and a fan above which gives a good air flow through the netting. The main en suite bathroom is spectacular. Like the bedroom, the bathroom is fully enclosed and insect-proofed by a mixture of canvas and mesh. The centerpiece of each bathroom is the large, egg-shaped stone bath. The tents are beautifully appointed with furniture and features that have been collected from around Africa.
