Mashatu Game Reserve is situated on the Eastern corner of Botswana. Mashatu Tent Camp is situated on the remote northern area of Mashatu Game Reserve. At the confluence of the Limpopo and Shashe Rivers, lies an area known as the Tuli Enclave. This area is a diverse wilderness of savannah, riverine forests, marshland, open plains and sandstone outcrops. Getting to Mashatu is by either air or by road. You could fly from Johannesburg International Airport on SA Airlink to Polokwane and then connect with a charter flight to the Limpopo Valley Airfield. From the Airfield, you will be met by Mashatu Tent Camp and transferred by road to the camp. Another option would be to fly from Johannesburg International Airport on SA Airlink to Polokwane. You will then connect with a road transfer to the Pont Drift Border Post and a representative from Mashatu Tent Camp will pick you up from the border and transfer you to the camp. Another option would be to connect with a road transfer from Johannesburg International Airport to the camp.
Mashatu Game Reserve offers some of the most exciting game viewing in Africa.

Accommodation
|
Mashatu Tent Camp consists of 7 twin tents. The accommodation is rustic in character, however every facility is provided for. The tents are insect-proof, have comfortable beds all have en-suite bathroom facilities.
The main area comprises of an open sided thatch deck where meals are served and there is a traditional boma for those campfire dinners. Other facilities include a plunge pool for those wanting to cool off from the heat of the day as well as a hide, overlooking a floodlit waterhole.

Game Viewing & Activities
|
Included activities at Mashatu Tent Camp include game drives in 4x4 vehicles as well as game walks with a qualified game ranger.
Mashatu Tent Camp is also able to offer additional activities at an additional cost that goes towards funding the scientists research. It is advisable to pre-book these additional activities, however you are welcome to book these activities whilst at the lodge and therefore is subject to availability at the time of booking. These additional activities include:
Ivory Drives: Join an elephant specialist on a morning drive to learn more about these amazing animals. Get up close and learn how to identify, age and sex the different herds.
Archaeological Drives: Visit the Mmamagwa Ruins on the Motloutse River. Here you have the opportunity to explore ancient civilisations. This trip includes a visit to Solomons Wall, exploration of the archaeological site, and a walk to the top of Mmamakwa Hill. These ruins are only available to guests staying at Mashatu Game Reserve.
Mountain Bike Safaris: Enjoy experiencing the bush from a different perspective. You will ride with experienced rangers along elephant paths. Early morning and late afternoon rides are available.
Horse Safaris: Enjoy an early morning or late afternoon ride within the reserve.
Predator Drive: Join a drive in the late afternoon, early evening and learn more about the leopard. You will track and follow the leopard, whilst at the same time learn more about study, ecology and behaviour of all the large predator species that call Mashatu home.
Walking Trails: Enjoy learning more about the biology and ecology of the area whilst on a walk with an experienced guide.
Kgotla Evening: Enjoy an evening under the stars in a Kgotla. A Kgotla is an African tribal court and consists of a log-enclosed, open-air boma. After your afternoon activity, you will return to the Kgotla where you will have dinner which has been prepared on an open fire. This outdoors experience offers an evening at one with the elements but with the comforts of a WC and hot showers. This activity must be booked in advance and is subject to availability.
Mapungubwe Day Trip: Enjoy a picnic brunch whilst visiting the archaeological heritage site. The flattopped hill of Mapungubwe was proclaimed a National Monument in 1984. This activity lasts all morning, and you will return to Mashatu at approximately 14:30 in time for your afternoon game drive.

Your stay at Mashatu Tent Camp is inclusive of accommodation, all meals and snacks, game drives in open 4-wheel drive safari vehicles, game walks, applicable tourism levies and transfers too and from the Limpopo Valley Airfield and the Pont Drift Border Post at scheduled times.
