Choosing to experience this safari package not only ensures you a superb safari, but guarantees a donation, through Desert & Delta Safaris, to The Botswana Rhino Project.
Today from Maun airport, you will be transferred to Leroo La Tau Lodge situated on a private concession south of the Makgadikgadi National Park. You will stay here for 2 nights on a fully inclusive basis.
Leroo La Tau is built on 15m high cliffs above the now flowing Boteti River which gives guests opportunities for spectacular wildlife sightings from this raised vantage point. During the dry season, the Boteti area is populated by up to 30 000 wildebeest and zebra which have migrated down to the Makgadikgadi in search of grazing. The migration brings with it predator activity. Leroo La Tau is not only about lion, zebra and wildebeest – other species found around the lodge are Chobe bushbuck, leopard, brown and spotted hyena, impala, kudu, jackal, porcupines, genets, caracal and white rhino to name a few.
Twelve luxury glass and thatch suites on individual raised wooden platforms provide unsurpassed views over the dry riverbed and grassy plains. The interiors of the suites are tastefully decorated and blend in with the natural surroundings.
The main reception and lounge areas sits high on the cliffs overlooking the Boteti Riverbed and the sweeping scrub and grasslands of the Makgadikgadi. Guests can enjoy a drink at the bar while appreciating the unsurpassed view of animals congregating at the water hole below. Guests can lounge around the pool watching the herds of zebra and wildebeest that wander around the lodge grounds and drink from the waterhole. Evenings are spent around the fireplace which also overlooks Boteti River bordering the Makgadikgadi National Park in front of the lodge.
Leroo La Tau offers both day and night game drives. Depending on the water levels on the Boteti River, boat excursions can as well be provided. The contrasting seasons and terrain make this area of the Makgadikgadi a unique haven for large herds and predators alike, ideal for exciting and dramatic game drives. A hide built off to the side of the lodge, allows guests a closer view of the animals drinking water at the river.
Today after your morning activity and light breakfast, time permitting, you will depart from Leroo La Tau airstrip on a light charter flight to Savute Airstrip where you will be met and transferred to Savute Safari Lodge for your 2 night stay on a fully inclusive basis.
Located on the banks of the now flowing Savute Channel, Savute Safari Lodge offers an exclusive safari experience in the renowned Savute area of Chobe National Park. Part of a dynamic eco system that is famous for its concentration of elephant and large lion prides, Savute Safari Lodge offers guests a combination of luxury and comfort with a classic wilderness experience.
Savute Safari Lodge has twelve luxury wood, thatch and glass suites sleeping a total of 24 guests. The suites have been elegantly furnished in neutral tones to compliment the natural environment. All suites have large private decks, a combined bedroom / lounge area and en-suite facilities. The suites’ signature expansive glass sliding doors and viewing decks were inspired by the diverse panorama of the Savute area.
The main lodge area houses the lounge, library and cocktail bar in a beautiful thatch and timber building. There is a large viewing deck, ideally situated for watching game at the water hole. The viewing deck is utilized for brunch and dinner. A swimming pool, on a raised wooden teak deck, overlooks the channel.
Activities at Savute Safari Lodge concentrate on game drives in open 4x4 safari vehicles. Savute is legendary for its lion prides. During the summer months, when there is great migration of zebra herds across the Savute Marsh, lion prides are particularly active in this area. A visit to the ancient San rock paintings at Gubatsa Hills is offered from the lodge.
Today, your last day of your Safari, after your morning activity and light breakfast, time permitting, you will depart on a light charter flight to Maun Airport from where you will continue with your onward travel arrangements.
