General description:
Xudum Okavango Delta Lodge is a smart safari lodge newly opened in August 2008. It is built on an island in a 250km² private reserve in the Okavango Delta. Xudum’s 25,000 hectares of pristine wilderness will be shared by only eighteen guests for an exhilarating water and land experience. As well as great big game viewing, there are diverse bird and plant species to enjoy, including the elusive Pel’s fishing owl.
Facilities:
Xudum's main lounge and dining area is built using multi-layered decks. These spaces have been designed to maximize views over the Okavango Delta wherever possible, while remaining discreetly within the treeline. Guests can indulge in playful moments on a big tractor tyre swing in the shade of the trees or gaze out over the lagoon from the quiet comfort of the massive couches in the guest area. Guests will be able to watch chefs at work in the open, interactive kitchen or get involved with cooking themselves. Delicious meals are served in the dining room, with its sweeping views, or around a crackling blaze in the open fire pit.         There is a well stocked safari shop offering a range of souvenirs. Xudum Okavango Delta Lodge has continuous 220V AC power.
Accommodation:
Overlooking a permanent lagoon, Xudum Delta Lodge has nine safari suites.  Built over split levels, each suite has an en-suite bathroom with large bath, an open-air shower, a spacious bedroom, a plunge pool and a lofty hideout with great views over the waterways. This hideout can be transformed at night for a sleep-out under the stars. Each suite has a ceiling fan and an air-conditioner to help keep it cool over the hot dry months.
Game viewing and activities:
The Okavango Delta includes a wide variety of ecosystems; channels, lagoons, shallow wetlands, riverine forests, floodplains, open grassland, woodland and palm savannah. The twice-daily game drives, bush walks or boat excursions, all guided by highly-skilled guides, allow guests to explore each of these ecosystems and their unique plant and animal life. Night drives provide a fascinating glimpse into the nocturnal life of the Delta. Exceptionally large herds of buffalo, often numbering up to 200 individuals are frequently encountered in the area.  Xudum supports an incredible diversity of wildlife, large herds of elephant, endangered African wild dog, resident rare Pel's fishing owls, semi-aquatic red lechwe antelope as well as exceptional birdlife.
Children Policy:
Children are welcome at Xudum Okavango Delta Lodge. Regretfully, children 5 years and younger cannot participate in the regular game drives and mekoro activities. Children 16 years and older can participate in guided walks and mekoro activities. Childminders can be booked at an additional cost. Children aged 6 to 11 years are accommodated on game drives at the lodge manager’s discretion. An extra bed can be arranged for a child sharing the parents’ suite
