General description:
Xaranna Okavango Delta Camp is a 'sleek' new safari lodge, which opened in late 2008 on the site of a much older camp, Rann's Camp. Xaranna is situated in an area that boasts a number of permanent river channels that flow throughout the year. Guests can experience guided walks, game drives, traditional mokoro and powered ‘eco-boat’ excursions.
Facilities:
The guest areas of Xaranna Okavango Lodge are all positioned carefully to maximize the sweeping views out across the channels, with classic Delta tree line silhouettes. The intimate guest sitting area boasts a spacious reading area, perfect for afternoon relaxation. The innovative dining area features shady verandas overlooking the channels of the Delta.  Share the day’s events with fellow guests over delicious meals in the open sided dining room or spend the evening around a roaring fire under starry skies in the open air boma. A fully-stocked Safari Shop offers chic safari gear, African art and jewellery.  An in-house beautician is available for guests wanting a massage in the privacy of their suites. Xaranna Okavango Delta Camp has continuous 220V AC power.
Accommodation:
Xaranna Okavango Delta Camp has nine sleek en suite safari tents with breathtaking views over the channel. The air-conditioned en-suite safari tents are organic in design with a combination of canvas and bleached timber and boast a romantic sala and a private plunge pool. Four poster beds offer extensive views onto the birdlife paradise. An en suite bathroom boasts a luxurious bath, and a refreshing shower either indoors or al fresco.
Game viewing and activities:
Guests can explore the wildlife surrounding Xaranna on early morning and late afternoon / evening game drives in an open air 4x4 safari vehicle, accompanied by an armed guide and tracker. The landscape traversed on game drives includes floodplains, as well as seasonal grassland, woodland, shrub land and savanna. Game drives track the Big Five, as well as a variety of other animals, including the semi-aquatic lechwe and sitatunga antelope. A walk in the surroundings of the camp with an armed guide, explores the sights, smells and sounds of the Okavango Delta. Learn about the various animals and plants while trying to spot the elusive Pel's fishing owl and shy bushbuck. River cruises in an electrically powered ‘eco boat’ or mokoro explore the waterways of the Okavango. Experienced guides will share fascinating details of the Delta's network of channels, flora and fauna. Many unique birds and frogs are sighted in the dense reeds and papyrus. A good variety of fish can be found in the clear waters and fishing trips can be arranged on request. Xaranna is home to a large number of species, including a number of species adapted to the semi-aquatic lifestyle, such as the elegant red lechwe and shy sitatunga. Lion prides, cheetah, leopard and African wild dog are occasionally encountered, while hippo hide in the deeper channels and lagoons. The area supports a large concentration of elephant and buffalo, while roan and sable antelope are occasionally spotted in the open woodlands.
Children Policy:
Children are welcome at Xaranna Okavango Delta Camp. Regretfully, children 5 years and younger cannot participate in the regular game drives and mekoro activities. Children 16 years and older can participate in guided walks and mekoro activities. Childminders can be booked at an additional cost. Children aged 6 to 11 years are accommodated on game drives at the lodge manager’s discretion. An extra bed can be arranged for a child sharing the parents’ suite.
