General description:
Villa Okavango (formerly Abu Private Villa) is a separate and private unit on the opposite side of the lagoon from Abu Camp. Villa Okavango was developed from the private retreat of Randall Moore, pioneer of elephant back safaris in Botswana.  The Villa includes a pool and resident butler and is designed for four guests or a small family.  The emphasis here is on privacy and luxury in the African bush.
Facilities:
Villa Okavango is situated in a picturesque grove of ancient trees including a magnificent "sausage tree". An elevated teak deck houses the spacious living area best described as Afro-Bedouin - spacious and airy. The dining and lounge areas are furnished in a colonial-baronial style. Antiques abound throughout and there is an informative library of natural history books. The villa has its own staff, and a resident chef will prepare excellent meals as and when they are required, adding to the exclusive atmosphere. A resident butler is also on hand. The outdoor area is also designed for total relaxation; from the swimming pool to the expansive deck allowing guests to view the lagoon and the surrounding landscape with its prolific birdlife and passing wildlife. There is no electricity at Villa Okavango and all the lights and hot water is powered by solar batteries.
Accommodation:
The accommodation consists of two large, luxurious en-suite bedrooms, one with a romantic four-poster bed and the other with two magnificent 'sleigh' beds. The tents have been carefully designed with canvas walls and stylish furniture. Pictures, ornaments and carvings of elephants adorn the camp. The en-suite bathrooms are spacious with a shower and bath.  There is a standing fan and safe in each tent. Each tent has a private viewing deck overlooking the lagoon.
Game viewing and activities:
Wild game around the villa is plentiful, from lechwe, impala, tsessebe, wildebeest, giraffe, herds of buffalo and elephants that pass close by. The predators are never very far away and guests will often hear the nocturnal calling of the large pride of lions that has made this area its home territory, or the call of the hyenas and jackals. Activities include game drives in open vehicles, night drives, walking safaris, birdwatching and water safaris in traditional mokoro canoes. The lagoon and surrounding grasslands support an abundant and diverse array of birds.
Children Policy:
Children of all ages are welcome in Villa Okavango, which comes with its own vehicle/guide for activities but excludes elephant activities
Why we like it:
Ultimate in bush luxury and exclusivity. Camp caters for four adults or a small family Private butler and resident chef. Activities are flexible and can be tailor-made to guest’s requirements
