General description:
Leroo La Tau is built on 15m high cliffs above the dry Boteti River which gives guests opportunities for spectacular wildlife sightings from this raised vantage point. During the dry season the Boteti area is populated by up to 30 000 wildebeest and zebra which have migrated down to the Makgadikgadi in search of grazing. The migration brings with it predator activity. Leroo La Tau is not only about lion, zebra and wildebeest – other species found around the lodge are Chobe Bushbuck, Leopard, Brown and Spotted Hyena, Impala, Kudu, Jackal, Porcupines, Genets, Caracal and White Rhino to name a few.
Facilities:
The main reception and lounge areas sit high on the cliffs overlooking the Boteti Riverbed and the sweeping scrub and grasslands of the Makgadikgadi. Guests can enjoy a drink at the bar while appreciating the unsurpassed view of animals congregating at the water hole below. Guests can lounge around the pool watching the herds of zebra and wildebeest that wander around the lodge grounds and drink from the waterhole. Evenings are spent around the fireplace which also overlooks the dry riverbed and the waterhole in front of the lodge. Generator power (AC 220V) is available during the day and evening. Suites are equipped with a 220-volt AC plug for hairdryers and invert 12-volt DC lighting to be used at night once the generator has been switched off.
Accommodation:
Twelve luxury glass and thatch suites on individual raised wooden platforms provide unsurpassed views over the dry riverbed and grassy plains. The interiors of the suites are tastefully decorated and blend in with the natural surroundings.
Game viewing and activities:
Leroo La Tau offers both day and night game drives. The contrasting seasons and terrain make this area of the Makgadikgadi a unique haven for large herds and predators alike, ideal for exciting and dramatic game drives. A hide built off to the side of the lodge, allows guests a closer view of the animals around the waterhole.
