General description:
Baines’ Camp is the perfect combination of luxury, privacy and nature. This exclusive lodge is named after the famed nineteenth century explorer and artist, Thomas Baines. Baines’ Camp, situated on a private concession neighbouring the Moremi Game Reserve, is superb for game viewing and bird watching. The area is home to a wide variety of big game including elephant, buffalo, giraffe, hippo, lion, leopard, cheetah and wild dog.
Facilities:
The main area features an oversize deck for outdoor dining and views over the permanent water of the lagoon. There is also a small infinity pool, perfect for cooling off in the heat of the day, comfortable sunbeds and two shady salas for relaxing under. Electricity, 240 volts, is supplied by a combination of silent packed generator and battery system allowing 24-hour power supply.
Accommodation:
The elevated suites feature a spacious bedroom, with softly draped fabrics adding the romantic touch of a bygone era. The four-poster beds are fully mobile and for a magical night-time experience, can be rolled onto the private deck. Avid astronomers will delight in stargazing from the privacy of their own deck.
Game viewing and activities:
Guests may explore the area by land and water. Daily game-drives offer adventure into the wilds and night drives are unique for discovering nocturnal species. The water paradise of the camp can be experienced at the gentle pace of a poled mokoro, or faster in a comfortable shaded motorboat (subject to water levels). Walking safaris are a specialty at Baines, with skilled, armed guides introducing the small things which make up the complex ecology of the area - the local plant-life, insects, birds and smaller animals. The unique and educational elephant interaction, offered at Stanley’s Camp is also available to guests at Baines’ Camp. This activity encompasses a leisurely paced walk with a trio of semi-habituated elephants. Guests can observe and interact with them and enjoy a picnic lunch in their company.
Children Policy:
Children under 12 years are not accepted at Baines’ Camp
