General description:
The Garden Lodge is a small guesthouse which offers tranquility and personalised service, located in the town of Kasane. The guesthouse is surrounded by a beautiful garden which slopes down to the riverside. A combination of beautiful flowers like hibiscus, frangipani and bougainvillea; tropical plants including banana and paw paw trees; attracting prolific birds to the fruits and flowers and the riverside location makes this a beautiful tranquil spot.
Facilities:
The communal areas at The Garden Lodge include a bar, which is known as the map room due to the variety of maps on the walls, a swimming pool and a lounge and dining room. Meals are enjoyed around one big table where guests can swap travel tales. The lounge and dining room, as well as the rooms, are furnished in teak and wicker. All décor comes from Botswana or one of the surrounding countries. Guests have the choice of sitting inside under the thatched roof, outside by the swimming pool or make use of the boma in the garden. The upstairs lounge overlooks the beautiful garden, and is decorated with African masks and baskets from various African countries.
The Garden Lodge has continuous 220V AC power.
Accommodation:
The Garden Lodge has eight rooms – four doubles and four family rooms. Each room has an en suite bathroom and a private verandah overlooking the Chobe River.
Game viewing and activities:
The Garden Lodge offers a range of activities, namely safari drives in Chobe National Park in open 4WD vehicles and a boat cruise on the Chobe River. The Garden Lodge can be flexible in their timings for activities and this allows guests to explore the park and river in a relaxed way. The Garden Lodge offers fishing excursions and supplies all the tackle required. If guests are keen to visit a local village, a guide will take them across the river into Namibia, by dug-out canoe where they will explore the villages on foot.
