Day 1 - 4:
Upon your arrival into Livingstone Airport, you will be met and welcomed by a representative from Islands of Siankaba who will transfer you to the lodge where you will stay for 3 nights.
Islands of Siankaba is situated just 24 miles from Victoria Falls and 30 miles from the Chobe National Park in Botswana. Siankaba evokes images of style and elegance in an African way. Subtle architecture blends with a backdrop of stately natural forest creating an atmosphere of peace and tranquillity. Visitors may spend quiet moments around the shaded pool or relax in the comfort of the open lounge and bar. Islands of Siankaba comprises of 2 small islands on the Zambian side of the Zambezi River.
The lodge is a luxurious lodge, exclusively accommodating 6 tents and therefore only 12 guests. The two islands are linked by a foot bridge. Islands of Siankaba comprises of 6 tents, all overlooking the Zambezi River. The chalets have been uniquely designed and are constructed of teak and canvas tenting, which are raised above ground levels in the tree canopy. Each chalet has its own private balcony and the chalets are linked by a raised walkway. The chalets are have en-suite bathroom facilities as well as being equipped with a mini fridge, ceiling fan, hair dryers, mosquito nets and a private safe. All bathrooms are furnished with dressing gowns, a range of aromatherapy bath products and floating candles.
The main lodge area is situated on the larger of the two islands and comprises of the dining area, which offers excellent food and wines; a bar area and a swimming pool. Islands of Siankaba offer guided birding and tree walks on the main island’s nature trail, guided fishing trips for the elusive Zambezi Tigerfish (boat hire an additional US$20 per hour), Sunset river cruises, mokoro (local dugout canoe) trips along the Zambezi River and guided village walks to the local school. There are additional activities that are on offer from the lodge, however are at an additional cost e.g. game drives within the Mosi-O-Tunya National Park, bungee jumping, white water rafting, helicopter flights over the falls etc.
Children aged 12 and over are welcome. Unfortunately due to the design and layout of the lodge, Islands of Siankaba are unable to accommodate younger children.
Day 4 - 7:
After an early morning activity and breakfast, if time permits; you will transfer by road across the border, into Botswana, and onto Muchenje Safari Lodge, where you will stay for 3 nights.
Muchenje Safari Lodge is situated on the Western side of the Chobe National Park, just a 40 minute drive from Kasane. The lodge is situated on a hill, which overlooks the Chobe River meandering in the distance. As this is the only lodge in the area, Muchenje offers a remote location. Muchenje is owner run and managed, with great attention to detail and offering guests a personalized experience.
Accommodation is comprised of 10 thatched chalets, each with en-suite bathrooms and coffee/tea making facilities. Each chalet has its own private balcony and unique view. The central part of the lodge is the heart of Muchenje and consists of the reception, lounge, bar area, dining area, library and game viewing deck. A swimming pool is also available for those wanting to cool of during the heat of the day. Game viewing activities consist of day and night game drives in 4x4 vehicles, River Cruises along the Chobe River, cultural visits to a tribal village as well as fishing on request are all offered at Muchenje. The game drives are conducted around the lodge area, which is outside the park, or inside the Chobe National Park.
Day 7 - 10:
After an early morning activity and breakfast, if time permits; you will transfer to Kasane Airport in time for your flight on light aircraft to Shinde, where you will stay for 3 nights.
Nestled on a lush palm island in the heart of the northern Okavango Delta, Shinde is an intimate camp located on the edge of Shinde Lagoon, which simply teems with animal and birdlife. The camp's unique main area comprises a multi-tiered dining room and lounge, set under canvas amongst the shade of ebony and mangosteen trees to complement the atmosphere of this original safari camp.
Shinde comprises eight twin-bedded classic safari tents, each with en-suite bathrooms, hot and cold running water and flush toilet. Accommodation is generally twin share on comfortable three quarter beds, however double accommodation is available on request. Every possible comfort has been catered for - from generated electricity and a private viewing deck through to a handy flashlight! Each tent is strategically positioned to offer splendid views, whether across the Okavango Delta's mysterious waterways or open grasslands.
Shinde offers a diverse range of activities, courtesy of its location which affords both water and land activities year round. Motorboats or Mekoro provide a chance to experience the incredible bird, plant and reptile species found in the aquatic habitat of the Okavango Delta. Game drives are conducted by a personal guide in comfortable, specially designed game drive vehicles. For the more adventurous, guided walks are also available while fly fishing enthusiasts will enjoy fishing for a variety of species such as tilapia and tigerfish.
Day 10 - 13:
After an early morning activity and breakfast, if time permits; you will connect with light aircraft for your flight to Sanctuary Stanley’s Camp, where you will stay for 3 nights.
Set in an amphitheatre of ebony and sausage trees on the southern tip of Chief's Island, Sanctuary Stanley's Camp borders the southern section of the Moremi Game Reserve. The floodwaters arrive around May or June, though there is often navigable water all year round due to the presence of the Boro River. Sanctuary Stanley's Camp consists of 8 classic styled safari tents raised on wooden decking. The decks are complemented with hammocks and Morris chairs. Each unit offers en-suite facilities and a private balcony.
The main building is raised on decking and offers expansive views over the surrounding floodplains. The structure was built into the existing tree line, its main support being a large sausage tree. The area is home to a wide variety of big game including elephant, buffalo, giraffe, hippo, lion, leopard, cheetah and wild dog. Game-drives are conducted in open 4 X 4 vehicles and are conducted early morning and late afternoon or as otherwise requested (subject to availability) and accompanied by professional guides. The unique and educational elephant interaction is also available. Mokoro excursions and game walks are also offered.
Day 13:
After an early morning activity and breakfast, if time permits; you will connect with light aircraft for your flight to Maun, in time for your onward connection.
Notes/Other: Please note that this itinerary is based on a minimum of 2 persons traveling together and the itinerary may be run in the reverse direction. This itinerary is an example only, and can be tailor-made to suit your personal requirements. We can combine this proposed itinerary with other camps in Botswana. Accordingly, no price is indicated, as this will depend upon a number of factors, such as your routing and duration of stay.
