Currency:

The currency in Botswana is Pula.
It has the ISO code BWP and is subdivided into 100 thebe.  
Bank notes come in denominations of P10, 20, 50 and 100, and coins in denominations of 5t, 10t, 25t, 50t, P1, P2 and P5.

Visa and MasterCard are usually accepted throughout Botswana but American Express and Diner’s Club are often not accepted
Lodges  accept US Dollars, Pound Sterling, Euro and South Africa Rand cash or travellers cheques.
Credit cards or foreign currency can be used to pay for extras at the lodges such as drinks, curios, gratuities etc. It is NOT necessary to have Botswana Pula currency.

It is wise to use your debit or credit card whilst travelling in Botswana. (Check with your bank first, as policies vary.)
In remote regions, where ATM machines do not exist, you may have to exchange travellers checks or money at the airport.
